What is the best title if you are a Multi-Skilled Freelancer?

Hello to all,

I am skilled in different fields including website development, internet research, data entry, data mining, lead generation, email handling, and social media marketing but I am still wondering what would be the best title that will surely attract more clients based on my core skills. I tried the tips given to me by Upwork but when I viewed my stats, I saw that my profile views have decreased more often than before.

Thank you for those who can give me suggestions.

Kind Regards,

Arvin it'd be up to you really. You should specify the one true strong skillset that you have. The rest can be listed in your bio (that's what it is for). It often does not matter if you use one or another specific title as many clients just look at your portfolio/CV.

My suggestions are to:

1. pick whichever you feel you are the strongest at

2. pick one that you really want to work on. ie. if you specify SEO but you don't really want to do SEO work here then it'd be pointless to specify it.

3. if you realize it's not doing any good for some time, try another one. Eventually once you land a few contracts you can figure out which one has the biggest demand and tailor your profile towards that one specific field. Remember, freelancing is just like regular local business, you have to do a lot of 'homework' and figure out what it is that people want.

and a small suggestion: I'd say don't even mind how many people view your profile. Looking for job postings and applying to relevant ones is the best way to make sure you get a contract in a field you specialize in, instead of sitting and waiting for people to come across your profile.

Cheers and keep up the good work

Zunaira, please create your own thread and post there, don't just spam other's threads. Also as a kind suggestion for the future, make sure you don't have typos as this can really interfere with your work experience.

Hi Arvin,

I think its really great you are skilled in all of those areas, but I agree with Vigen, choose one and test, until you find something that works for you.

Also, I believe when you find that one skill, you can offer the others as an upsell.

Say you found, web deve as your money making speciallity, you can offer email marketing, internet marketing as an upsell. Because I am sure your web clients needs content, you can even bring on other freelancers to do blog posting for you and you handle that marketing side. This here will significantly increase your hourly rate becuase now you are offering more value added service to clients. You can even offer the internet research if the client needs specific content and do not have the time to look for it.

Your title can then be Website Development and Content Marketing Specialist or something like that, but lets not get ahead of ourselves, just focus on the testing and see what works for now.

What do you think?

All the best.

Great point, Satiesh! As a matter of fact, clients often like to work with the same (tested) individual, as opposed to finding new talents and getting the hang of their workflows, shortcomings, quirks and skill sets. It's always good to deal with one guy who either does what's needed or can delegate it with his own team.
