Hope you are all fine. The connects bidding system has made my work seriously goes down and do not want giving up my freelancer career, not even in a country where salary is a joke. The only way to join an agency is to be invited by an agency administrator. Your relationship with them, including how you get paid, is managed privately outside of Upwork.

I'm thinking of creating an Agency within the next 60 days.

Please tell me what happens in this scenario: 

• I hire somebody who already has an Upwork profile
• Do they get to create a secondary profile (as a team member of my agency), where I get to set their rates?
• Or do we have to use their existing profile?
• Or something different?

Please explain how all this works.  Thank you!

Hi Vito,

Thank you for reaching out to us and raising this query. Firstly, users are only allowed to have one freelancer profile, and having multiple ones is a violation of Upwork's TOS. That said, the freelancer will be using the same profile and don't need to create another one if they wish to join an agency. 

However, for you to add team members to your agency, you will need to upgrade to an Agency Plus membership.

To add someone to your agency:

1. Go to Settings › Members & Permissions
2. Select Invite a New User and fill in the form, including choosing roles and permissions
3. Select Invite User to send the freelancer a request to join your team, which they can accept or decline

They can set and negotiate your rate with the client but what you receive in actuality will depend on what you and the agency administrator discussed.
