Block freelancer from messaging me

I've seen a number of threads on this, but no actual answer. 

I have canceled a contract with a freelancer who lied about his skills, didn't produce the work promised, but billed a number of hours. I am currently in dispute on those hours with Upwork support and I want to block this freelancer from being able to message me. The only option I see is to "hide" the conversation, but then it pops back up as soon as they message me.

There are multiple ways to block a user but the easiest way is to access a room with that user, click on their profile icon, then select Block. Please note that you cannot block a user with whom you have an active contract. Find more info about using messages here.
