Good morning,
A client of mind is requesting I provide them with a W9 to account for her payments to me. Should I be providing my company's W9? Or should she be getting one from Upwork? Keep in mind, I run an agency, and all Upwork payments go through my business account. Just want to make sure I point her in the right direction. Any info is great.
Thank you

Hi Austin,
Freelancers and agencies submit their information for Form W-9 (U.S.-based) or Form W-8BEN (international) to Upwork. Generally, if the client classifies their freelancer as an independent contractors, they don’t need to file a Form 1099-MISC for the payments they sent through Upwork. Please, share this help article with your client for more information. You may also discuss it with a local tax advisor.
Thank you!
