Expanding opportunities with Talent Scout™!

We are in awe of how the Upwork community leverages the work marketplace to advance their careers. And we want to help you go even further! That's why we've expanded your opportunities with Talent Scout, a service we launched to a small subset of clients last year, that matches pre-vetted remote talent to some of the leading clients on our platform.

For Independent Talent:

If you are a freelancer who specializes in web, mobile or software development, marketing, or design and creative, Talent Scout is an opportunity to work with dedicated Upwork recruiters who will bring opportunities to you.

  • You must provide a submission to Talent Scout to be considered for inclusion in the service. It is a multi-step process that is designed to ensure that you are matched with clients looking for your unique blend of hard and soft skills.

  • Freelancers accepted to Talent Scout will be paired with specialized recruiters who understand your industry and will match you with top clients ranging from well-funded startups to Fortune 500 companies in exciting opportunities for deep, meaningful work.

  • No Connects are needed to provide a submission for Talent Scout or to be considered for these opportunities.

How is this different from other programs? You may have previously worked with a Talent Specialist or an Enterprise Talent Manager in our Expert-Vetted program. Those opportunities are invite-only. Talent Scout is open for all freelancers specializing in technology, marketing, or design and creative to submit a proposal. It’s a way to find more opportunities on Upwork and ultimately gain more control and freedom over your independent career.

Learn more and get started with your submission here.

For Clients:

As a client, you can easily start the Talent Scout process by providing some information about what you need. From there a specialized recruiter will identify talent that has the right hard and soft skills and provide you with a shortlist of independent professionals who meet your needs. Interview the talent that excite you, make your selection, and your team can get right to work. You’ll save time and money while we find the right fit. Get started here

Can you tell we’re excited to bring Talent Scout to you? We are, because we believe this is a huge opportunity for our community. We're eager to hear your feedback, and our door is always open if you have thoughts or questions.

Finally some exciting news! Hopefully, this would work out as an efficient process to match the right talent with the right client.

How does this differ from the Expert Vetted programme? If I already have the EV badge as well as certifications, do I need to apply for this as well?

Hi Christine,

That's a good question. Both Talent Scout and Expert Vetted require a freelancer to go through a similar vetting process, and both will require skill certifications and an interview. But with the Expert-Vetted Talent program, you’ll need to be invited and complete a more thorough interview process.

If you'd like, you can apply to be part of the Talent Scout program by clicking click here. Please allow at least 21 days for us to review your application.

Hey Everyone,

I applied for Talent Scout program yesterday, I checked my Talent Scout Dashboard and it's approved and it asks me to submit eirher my LinkedIn or Personal Website

Now when I submit my LinkedIn profile, it states

"Thanks for your submission, We'll get back to you soon" but when I refresh the page it again asks for submission and so on.

Kindly let me know is there any bug or some other issue,

Thanks

p.s I haven't received any email regarding approval of my Talent Scout Application yet, I just checked my status on my Talent Scout Dashboard

Hi Zain,

Thanks for reaching out! I see you already have a support case open for this specific issue and it's been escalated to the appropriate team. They'll be updating you shortly. I've also flagged your post and feedback to the team. Rest assured your submission has been received and you will be receiving an email once it's reviewed.

Great initiative! Just curious, but I am assuming that our Upwork profile will automatically be reviewed as well once you get our submission? It wasn't super clear when I applied so just curious. (We are asked to provide some external URLs for example)

Does the top rated/Top rated plus status makes any difference in that case or you take it into account?

Curious because the process almost sounds like it's completely separate from our freelancer profile!

Hi Lisa,

Yes, if you are already on Upwork, we will also review your Upwork reputation (such as your feedback and Job Success Score). We look at a variety of factors in applicants, including your experience, education, and existing skills.

Thank you for your feedback!

So this program is open to freelancers who are not on Upwork? Because I had the same observations as Lisa; it seems like a separate programme. For example, I was not able to offer my Upwork portfolio for review, I was asked to provide a link to an external portfolio. Why is that?
