Over the past few months, many of you have helped us test and refine our newest Upwork offering: Project Catalog.

Through your contributions, feedback, and support, we’re thrilled to announce that Project Catalog is now officially live for the entire Upwork community—talent and clients alike.

If you’re not familiar with Project Catalog (or just want a refresher), here’s a quick introduction:

Project Catalog is where the work you love finds you. Build and sell your own project offerings based on the type of work you want more of. Each project will be listed on Project Catalog, ready for clients to purchase for a fixed price in just a few clicks. Once a client purchases, they’ll fill out any requirements you’ve requested, and you’ll be set to get to work.

It’s an easy way to get more eyes on your offering and land new projects quickly—all while putting you in the driver’s seat. That means you and your clients can get started right away, and with confidence.

Check out this video to learn how clients will discover and purchase your projects.

Stay tuned for more exciting rollouts

Project Catalog is just the beginning of a series of exciting new ways to land clients on Upwork, adding to Talent Marketplace, the current platform you already know and love.

But no matter how you choose to use Upwork to grow your independent work, know that we’re dedicated to helping you build the strong and profitable relationships that are the foundation of a growing business.

We want to thank you for your hard work and the contributions you make to creating a thriving community on Upwork.

Happy New Year—may it be your most rewarding one yet!

My client purchased my project but the client's payment method not verified. How can I tell my client that I will not deliver the project until verifying the payment?

Hi Jeremy,

Currently, this is referring to all projects a freelancer is able to take. Thank you so much for this valuable feedback. I've shared it with your team.

I wouldn't have guessed it was for all projects, so good to know. Guess I'll set the max to 10, though that'll look odd as I'd only accept 1 of certain types of large projects. Thanks.

Hi Md,

In order to qualify for Payment Protection, which is the same for contracts created after projects are purchased as it is for fixed-price contracts, the client's payment method needs to be verified. That's why we don't recommend the freelancer delivers work until the payment method is verified. Feel free to use Messages to ask or remind the client to verify their payment method before you're able to start working.

Thank you!

Can anyone tell me how much time takes for approval the project catalog?

And what is the exact requirement for accepting the project catalog?

Hi Md Arafat,

Please allow up to five business days for your project to be reviewed. When you create a project we will first review it before making it visible to clients. Our review includes making sure your project is complete, looks professional, and doesn’t violate our Terms of Service. Note: Please allow up to five business days for your project to be reviewed. Hi Dawood,

Thanks for your question. You can have up to 20 projects total in active/review status at once. You can also have another 20 in draft form.  To learn more about Project Catalog, click here.

Suppose a client accepted a project of mine, and after working on the job, I find I didn't have to do as much work as expected. Can I refund some of their payment?

Hi Jeremy,

Yes, you will have the same Upwork Payment Protection with Project Catalog as with fixed-price contracts on Upwork. You can learn more here.

Thank you!
