We have heard a few concerns from the community about freelancers not being able to withdraw earnings during the holidays. Yes, there may be delays in receiving and withdrawing funds during this time period. But rest assured that oDesk's automated systems will be processing all requests and transfers normally, with the exception of a slight delay due to bank holidays. This is because it takes time to receive direct oDesk-to-bank-account payments, which are calculated in business days. Holidays and weekends are not counted as business days, so delays may occur.
oDesk operates in over 240 countries, so we must depend on you to be aware of the bank holidays in your own country. The US bank holidays are:

thanks for posting this here Lillian!
I suggest we make this a sticky (at least during the jampacked holiday dates ahead this December) for lurkers and new forum visitors to see it easily. Will share this as well at fb etc

Hi
I was just wondering. My oDesk account made an automatic withdrawal last December 31,2014. My bank was opened on that day until around lunch time. My funds have not reached my account as of the moment. I would like to inquire if December 31 would still be a no bank day for oDesk, given the said circumstances?
I would just like to clarify that if a day is deemed a non working day and the bank chooses to be opened, no oDesk transaction should be counted? I'm just a bit confused. Sorry.
