You and me both ... and yep, it is totally tacky.

For those of you who are going to play this silly game - Add "& Top Rated" AFTER your skill sets in headline.  Your skill sets are far more important.

When posting a job any client can still select +90% JSS, +80% JSS or any JSS, and include Rising Talent this has not changed, as in the screenshot Jessica shared:

When searching for jobs any client can still select to search for freelancers with +90% JSS or 80% or any JSS, as they have been able to do in the past. The only change is the added search filters for Rising Talent and Top Rated. These specific filters have been added as a feature for Upwork Plus.

As shown in the screenshot Scott shared:

Lena,

In all honesty, do you really think that clients should pay to search by top-rated when they can click 90% JSS or higher and search by that? The only difference between top-rated and "90% and up" is that freelancers with 90% or higher who haven't reached top-rated yet will be found in that search.  I feel like this is misleading - that Upwork is trying to pretend to "hide" these higher-level freelancers that can only be found by paying for it when they can actually be found for free.

There is no reason for that filter to be locked. Shouldn't we make client-freelancer pairings as easy as possible? Doesn't that benefit both parties? I understand if the "help" in question required some sort of investment by UW that deserves separate remuneration. However, a self-service filter is absolutely not such an option. The perks offered by UW for Top Rated members are already problematic and this does nothing to meaningfully try to change that.  I struggle to understand why UW would do things to add friction to a pairing that would bring it money? Forgot both client and freelancer, this just hurts UW. No sense.

So this is where all my views and invites have gone.  Arggggg

Can you please just direct all the C-Suite efforts and money to making a robust site?   Please?

LOL this platform...

Why are we STILL not receiving notifications about major changes, such as a sudden $50/mo subscription and a lock on features that were available up until like yesterday? When will you start using serious channels for communication instead of the community forum?

Is this so hard and complicated and expensive and mind-blowing that no one in your team could've thought of it and implemented it in over 3 years?

On topic tho - the pop-up [which seems to suggest "specialists" and "advisors" are not an optional thing?] mentions "unlimited invites". 15 per post is hardly unlimited, so what's up with that? Is your """official""" announcement incorrect (good job) or is your pop-up false advertisement (great job)?

Hi Ines,

Thanks for flagging the pop-up, we will get that updated asap. The Upwork Plus plan includes 15 invites.  We have a communication plan being rolled out around the new Upwork Plus plan that will be notifying users via email and other channels. This is in addition to the Community announcement and in-product notifications.

Lena,  SOP is to thoroughly beta test roll-outs FIRST.  Step 2 is to communicate to all users - buyers and FLers - that a new program will be rolled out on a specific date in the future.

U. has a deplorable and consistent habit of doing this half-a**sed backwards.

Please address Scott's observation.  If he is correct U will see a huge slow-down on bids from the professional providers as we will all be concentrating  on comptitors' platforms.

Watch this space for Upwork Premium for freelancers announcement. My bet is on something like 4 connects with basic and 30 connects with Premium. $49.90/month only. Coming soon, don't miss out.

How's the weather today?
