Introducing "Featured Job" Posts

We’re rolling out a new way for clients to find and hire great freelancers in less time. “Featured Jobs” is an upgrade option clients can purchase to highlight their job more prominently than others. For a one-time fee of $29.99, clients that upgrade their job to a “Featured Job” will receive:

  • A “Featured Job” badge on their job post
  • The ability to move their job up to the top of search results several times.
  • An email showcasing their job to Top Rated and Rising Talent freelancers along with a discount for those freelancers when they work on these jobs.
  • Behind the scenes shortlisting help.

All freelancers will see “Featured Jobs’ in their job search and on their job details page. The badge will look like the image shown below:

We’re testing out this feature to a limited amount of clients, so not everyone will have this option yet. We will let you know when this has rolled out to all clients.

Lena, hopefully this will serve as a proactive way to weed out the not-serious buyers.

Can you tell us more about this?

Hi Rene,

A featured job will be included in the emails sent to Top Rated and Rising Talent freelancers. Freelancers who will get be awarded featured job contracts will get the incentive of a reduced freelancer fee on these jobs.

Avery, would the 10% fee be what you are saying with "incentive of a reduced freelancer fee on these jobs"?

Is other than 10%, please fill in the blank.  Thanks.

Yes, Wendy.

When you work on a Featured Job, you’ll receive the 10% fee (skipping the 20%).

This does bring some interesting effects to the table.

Just avoid that ominous money-making path that freelancer took.

Keep it expensive, so it remains uninteresting and truthful to its purpose.

Hi Lena!

As a matter of fact, I've just found 2 jobs posted by the same client. His hire rate was pretty poor (25%) and he even included the email for sending resumes. Flagged them both.

However, I think the addition is still quite interesting.

Is Upwork planning to add some filters like "featured jobs only" and "not featured only" for freelancers?

Hi Pavel,

Thanks for your question. There is no option to create a filter specifically for Featured Jobs. However, these jobs will include an eye-catching, blue “Featured Job” banner so they will be easy to spot.

Thanks for reporting, could you also pm me the links to the flagged job posts?

At Elance, these featured jobs used to cost some extra connects as well for us to apply, I think that was good.
