I'm new to Upwork and I am living and working in London, UK. The only forms of location verification accepted seem to be Drivers License and British Passport. As a Commonwealth citizen (Australia), I have a two year UK Working Visa, but we don't have British passports and we are advised to use our Australian Dirvers License, which are valid here.
I have the British Residency Permit Card (BRP), which is issued when you enter the country. It is a government form of photo ID card, which verifies that you are eligible to live and work in the UK. Is there any way I can use this to verify my location instead?
We do have several options on how to finish this verification process and one of our team members will reach out to you as soon as possible to assist you further. Thank you.
Hello Upwork community! I'm fairly new here, and have been unable to verify my location, because the UK platform only allows you to verify if you have a British passport or UK driving license! I am Canadian, living here on an Ancestral Visa BRP, which allows me to work as if I were British. Please any ideas? Thanks so much in advance. :-)
I am currently trying to set up my profile but I'm having difficulty with proceeding. I am being asked to verify my account with a phone number and my phone is currently broken. Surely it would benefit more people (including those with international numbers or those having other issues with the verification process) if there was a way to verify your account through email and have the option of adding your phone number in addition later.
Hello I am brandnew to the site and a EU citizen operating from London and only have my EU driving licence and passport rather than a UK one. I do have a NIN though? What should I do to verify my location and also with regards to VAT?
One of our team members will reach out to you via ticket and assist you further on how to verify your location.
Regarding your VAT question, I would suggest to consult with a local specialist on how to report your earnings. Upwork charges the country-specific Value Added Tax (VAT) to freelancers and agencies in the European Union (EU), unless you provide a valid VAT number. VAT will be assessed on services provided by us, not on services you provide your clients. To learn more about VAT check out this Help Article. Thank you.
