With October being National Cyber Security Awareness Month, we at Upwork have created some new resources to help educate and keep your business safe on our platform. By educating and informing our users about ways they can keep themselves and their information safe online, we hope to better safeguard our community against those with malicious intent – either on Upwork or elsewhere.


Upwork Security Center: Check out our new security page, a one-stop shop for best practices on keeping you safe online.

Keeping our community safe takes teamwork. So while we  continue improving our systems and processes, we also count on your support.  If you come across any suspicious or malicious content on Upwork, report it right away by contacting Customer Support. To report a job or a user profile, use the “Flag as inappropriate” link on the page. You can also click “Report Message” within Upwork Messages to flag a specific message. For more detailed instructions, refer to our help article here.

In the upcoming weeks and months, we’ll be adding more information to the Security Center. We’ll also continue adding security measures to ensure the safety of your information while still providing you with the best possible experience when using our site. This is much needed. `i have so far been twice charged by upwork for a job that`i have tried to cancel and had since had 8 unauthorised payments taken by my bank account starting from exactly the same time that i joined up with upwork. The transaction history on my upwork account shows a refund but this was not received. 


Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Iain,


I see our agent shared information and clarified your Transaction History report, regrading the Escrow funds which were returned to your billing method after your contract was cancelled. I can also confirm our agent's reply that we don't have any record of other payments being credited to your account, so please provide the documents our agent requested so we could take a look and clarify further.
