Upcoming Site Maintenance 11/30 **

Upcoming site maintenance this week may impact your work so please plan ahead!

 

As a reminder, we have scheduled maintenance with site downtime on Wednesday Nov. 30 at 6pm Pacific.

 

We also have an extended downtime on Saturday December 3rd as our engineering team performs system upgrades. Upwork.com will be temporarily unavailable from 8am to 4pm Pacific. Users will not be able to track time on the Desktop App. While we notified both clients and freelancers, please be sure to coordinate with your team in advance if you believe this could impact your project.

 

**edited - Our planned downtime maintenance for 12/3 has been postponed. We will update the community with a new date, expected in 2017.

Is there somewhere we can find an organized detail of when there will be planned outages/site downtime? For example, the information you posted does not match what is displayed at the top of the official "Help Center" page. 

 

..."Upwork will be down for a regularly scheduled maintenance to upgrade our database hardware on Dec. 1, beginning at 02:00 UTC for about 3 hours. You can continue to bill time to any contract in the Team App if you are logged in prior to the start of maintenance."

Outages are daily and they are not planned, they just happen. It may, however, also happen that Upwork remains accidentally online and working 24 hours in a row. The cause is unknown.

 Well, it worked smoothly for a couple of months now. From my point of view the problems started last week.

Hi Doug,

 

I apologize for the confusion. My post listed the time in PST, whereas Help Center has it listed in the UTC timezone. The times are consistent UTC is 8hours ahead of PST so 11/30 at 6pm PST is also 12/1 at 2am UTC.

Hi all,

As mentioned, we have all hands on deck working on the site issues you've been experiencing these last few days. As a result of these issues, and the focus on resolving them, we're going to postpone the planned maintenance we had scheduled for Dec. 3. 

 

Tonight's maintenance is still happening, but the extended downtime we had for Saturday will be moved to a later date, sometime next year. We'll update everyone as we get closer to that date.

Hi Garnor, thanks for the update. Couple of points:

 

1) Are you going to send an email stating the maintenance has been postponed, similar to the email sent announcing it? Not all users (and in particular, not many clients) read the forums.

 

2) On the status.upwork.com page there's a box with scheduled maintenance that lists the time in 2 different ways:

For clarity it would be better if these times were the same. In general, it would be good to stick to one timezone - probably UTC, as that's what the tracker etc is in.
