Access to my account to someone I hire?

Hi There!  I am new to upwork and close to hiring a freelancer to create a webpage and logo for me.  I have a web host site -am I to give them access to that to create the webpage? Not sure how that works? It doesn't seem safe to do that?

Laurie

Thank you in advance for help!

Hi Laurie,

You can discuss the job further with the freelancer so that you can agree on how you would like to complete the project and, also the safety of the information you will be sharing with them before you proceed with hiring the freelancer.

Laurie:
It is normal for clients to hire freelancers and then give the freelancers access to their web hosting accounts.

As a database specialist, I can assure you that clients provide all kinds of system access to qualified freelancers.

But it is also possible to hire freelancers to create things such as websites and logs without providing them with any access to your systems.

There many ways that freelancers can do such work with their own servers or local systems and provide you with the files, and then your team's technical lead can post the files on your web hosting account. Or you can do it yourself.

If you don't know how this works, then you can hire freelancers who know how this works. Or you can hire freelancers to spend between 10 to 30 minutes to consult with you or train you in how to do these things.

All of this has nothing to do with Upwork specifically. These are general concepts that are widely practiced.
