I paid $300 for a job why is my balance showing $408?

I am new to upwork so I am not 100% sure if I may have made a mistake here, but I am already very suspicious, especially since I don't see an option anywhere to contact an actual upwork support center employee.
This is my concern: I set the first milestone for a hired freelancer at $100 (monies were added to escrow). When the freelancer accomplished the first milestone he sent me a request for the $100, the monies were paid to him from escrow. Then I placed the remaining $200 into escrow. I realize along the way upwork charged me two processing fees, one for $2.75 the other $5.50. I expected that my balance would be $308.50 but I am seeing a beginning balance of $408.50 why is that?
