Canceling a contract with a freelancer

Let's say I have a project that should take 1 month. And it's extremely important to have it done within a month.

Let's say, it has already passed 2 weeks, so 2 weeks left till the project should end. And there's no progress from the freelancer side, not even a beginning of the work.

What can be done in such situation? Theoretically, the freelancer still has 2 weeks to finish the job. Practically, there's no chance he would be able to finish it within two weeks.

Excluding trying to settle up with freelancer. I'm pretty sure if it was just one day until the deadline, he would still say "no worries mate, no worries it will be done. Trust me"

Hi E,

If the freelancer is unable to comply with what you have agreed, you can let the freelancer know that you would be ending the contract. We always encourage both freelancers and clients to discuss the job and come to an agreement as to how they would like to proceed with the project terms. You have the option to request for the partially finished work and pay the freelancer with the equivalent value of the submitted work if that is what you prefer.

E G:

There are effective strategies for hiring freelancers to do projects and tasks that must be done by a certain time.

First of all, of course a client does not hire only one unfamiliar freelancer.

If you hire a freelancer you have worked with before and know for certain that they will deliver the type of work you need and do so on time, that works.

But if you have not worked with the freelancer before? No. You can not hire only one person. So you hire multiple freelancers to do the same task.

The more important the task and the deadline are, the more freelancers you hire. Four freelancers is a good number.

If the DEADLINE is what is important, then you hire multiple people. Simple.

If you want to use fixed-price contracts, then plan to pay ALL of them.

If you want to save money, then use hourly contracts. Explain that this is a TEAM PROJECT, and that when the work is done, the project is over and all contracts will be closed. Then, once you have the work you need, close all contracts. Pay the freelancers who billed no time a $5 bonus. That way nobody ends up with a zero-pay contract, which has negative impact on freelancer JSS.
