Cannot Message, getting a "Waiting for Connection"

Why doesn't Upwork fix this?

I cannot use messages and, therefore, cannot use Upwork. I keep getting a "waiting for connection" error when trying to type a message.

I've cleared my cookies and cache, removed all extensions, and am using Chrome on my desktop, which is used by 66% of the world, the vast majority of users. I'm not going to change browsers.

 

Upwork, please help, do better.

Hi Amaan,

It sounds like you're running into the same connection issue repeatedly. That's incredibly frustrating, especially when you've tried multiple fixes without success.

It seems like even after clearing your cookies, cache, and trying other standard troubleshooting steps, the problem persists and it's not productive.

 

Thinking about this with you:

  1. Are you using a VPN? It can sometimes interfere with connectivity; and switching servers or disconnecting might help.
  2. If you're able, could you also attach a screenshot of the "waiting for connection" message? It might help pinpoint what’s going on.
