Client problems

Hi - Is there any sort of arbitration help available before things reach a crisis point with client and dispute is declared? - Thanks Conrad

That is not something that Upwork does.

The process is officially called "arbitration."

It is what happens after a dispute.

If the dispute can not move the two parties to resolve their differences.

You DO NOT WANT to use disputes or arbitration. These always represent a failure in the process.

But these "tools" are available in Upwork.

If you actually go to arbitration, it will cost you $291, and you will not get that money back, regardless of who wins.

But if the client declines to go to arbitration, you will not need to pay the fee, and you will win by default.

Cool, thanks, that is some useful advice. I have always managed to work it
out with the client somehow. But was wondering if there was a way of fast
tracking process from my side instead of the usual long-suffering descent
to the point of absurdity. So much thankless education involved in that. If
there was an Upwork expert in my area they could look at the last couple of
Skype messages, shake their heads in disbelief, and then patiently explain
to client: "That\s not how it usually works."
