Dear Upwork,

We have paid USD50 to escrow.

The contractor does not know how to do the work, and unable to even start the work.

What should I do?

Ask the freelancer to end the contract, which will send your funds back to your payment method.

Alternatively you can end the contract yourself, but then the freelancer will have to agree to the return of the funds to your payment method, and it could take a little longer.

Hello,

Once you end the contract; if the milestone has already been approved and payment is on its way to the freelancer, the freelancer can send the money back at any time.

If there's a line of communication between you and the freelancer, simply ask them to do so.

If the milestone hasn't been approved, payment hasn't technically been sent yet. Pre-funding milestones is simply a way of reassuring freelancers about the availabilityof money while they're doing the work.

Good luck.

Hi Jeffrey,

Please use one of the options Petra outlined in order to refund the funds you've deposited in Escrow and use them to hire a different freelancer for your job.
