I recently sent a proposal for an article writer job posted by **Edited for Community Guidelines**
Soon after that, I was contacted by one of its supposed managers and she asked me to talk via Microsoft Teams. 

We came to an agreement about payment and she sent me a simple form to fill up. 
Once that was done a project manager came into contacting me and asked me to sign up and configure all kinds of tools like GCP, Azure and AWS. Lastly he asked me to sign Vultr, which needs a credit card with at least $5 in it. 

I grew ever more suspicious, since we never made an Upwork contract, so I called it off at this last step. 

has anyone gone through the same ordeal?

You shouldn't have talked to them off of Upwork before a contract was in place, but thanks for sharing your experience here.
