How can I pay a freelancer for work done before they accepted the job proprosal?

I employed a freelancer and he started work, and then I realised he had not accepted the job proposal. He has done so now but finds that he is not able to enter manual time for the hours worked before acceptance. Is it possible to change the start date, or is the only way to pay him for me to give him a bonus?

Kim, the only way is to issue a bonus, or wait a bit and let the freelancer add manual time for hours since they accepted the contract which is better for the freelancer as he or she accrues Upwork hours that way.

They can also just add the hours for the current working week manually. It doesn't have to be in the week they actually started working.
