I am getting a vague response from my freelancer on how long my job should take. I agreed to 15 hours of work a week, but she will not answer as to how many weeks my SEO will take. I do not want to pay indefinitely and feel I should have some idea of how long I'll be paying.
Save yourself right now and close the contract. What this chick will do is harm more than good. Then, go search "google seo starter guide" and read it. Then google "google webmaster guidelines" and read them fully. They aren't even that long! Very short read and you'll see that everything you are doing right now is wrong.
First of all you should edit your last message and remove the screenshot of your communication with freelancer. It is agains community guidelines..
2. SEO is an going nature of work.. when ever you are going to stop the SEO your website ranking will be start to fall. So it totally depends on you that what you actually looking for.. to keep your website on some decent ranks forever or just want to see your website once on google first page etc..

Thank you for the info but how do you know she will do more harm then good? Below is her reply to my question of how long it will take at her putting in 15 hours a week;
Because I've reviewed thousands of websites and I can smell an SEO fraud from a mile away. Any "backlink building" is against Google's guidelines and I'll be my house that's what she promised you, right? That will do more harm than good. Go read the guidelines.

Cindy, if you don't know how Google ranking system works, please avoid hiring so-called SEO specialists. Most of them have no idea about what they are doing.
And you know what? I'm gonna to reveal to you the very secret of a good SEO. For free. Right now:
Write relevant content on your site. Forget keywords, links, SEO. Just write content designed for humans. And write often. Forget SEO. Totally. Google cannot be tricked anymore, it gives value to websites that humans read. If your website is not read by humans (because it contains cr@appy content) it will receive low-ranking. Period.
If you stuff your website with keywords, Google will notice and kill it.
Forget about SEO specialists.
