Its best to advise with your accountant or tax specialist in your own state, they will clear everything about this type of payments and how you can use them for your business.
I was looking into this as well. All the contract work is deductible I just need to get invoices for the work paid for. How would I be able to get those invoices/receipts?

I'm USA client I've hired a freelancer at A per hour rate and upwork sends me invoice every week. Can I use this as a business tax deduction in USA? Is this acceptable? I appreciate your responses.
It is best to consult a tax professional, as was suggested. But the short answer is yes, this would be considered a business expense. The fees you pay Upwork would also fall under the business expense category.
