Is it possible to pre-pay a project?

We have some budget restrictions where we have a certain amount of money available for 2020. We now have a task we would like done within the budget year 2020. However, the project will take longer and last into 2021, so my question is, does anyone know if it is possible to create a job/project (fixed price) and do a pre-payment somehow? Or some other idea how to solve this?
