Payment taken in wrong currency

Team,

Please can you explain why you took payment ref 29987782 purportedly in USD, only to charge me in GBP?

This is not the same thing, and is not what we agreed.

Please can you also explain why there is no bilateral customer support? How could we get support on non-public/confidential information?

Hi, this response does not address my issue, nor does it answer either of
the questions I raised.

The main issue was why you took payment in GBP. It is incorrect that I, or
my card provider, chose GBP. So please explain what happened. I also note,
predictably, that the implied FX rate with which you took this amount in the
wrong currency penalised me - you took approximately $3 extra in an FX skim
to which I did not consent. This is in addition to the $3 fee, so I have now
paid $106 for a $100 contract, to only $103 of which I consented. Please
refund me this $3 extra.

Besides therefore answering my first question properly, please also answer
my second question, which was asking why there is no clear way to gain
bilateral customer support, when some issues will clearly not be appropriate
for a forum setting.

Hi Martin,

Prices on Upwork are always in U.S. Dollars (USD) and your freelancer will receive U.S. Dollars as payment. Only the billing to your card may be converted to your local currency if that's the option you are using. Check out this help article for more information.

Feel free to follow up here with us if you have any additional concerns, we can assist you accordingly or have the correct support team assist you.

Thank you!

Hi Martin,

You can set up which currency you prefer your card to be charged in if you click on the icon in the upper right corner of your account, go to Settings> Billing Methods and then click on the menu button opposite of the payment method you've added. Currently, it's set to GBP but you can update it. We'll also have one of our support agents to reach out to you directly to address any additional concerns and questions.

Thank you!
