Project funded but need to change the milestones

I set up a project for a fixed fee and hired someone.  I funded the project in escrow.  Now, the freelancer, quite reasonably, wants to be paid in two milestones (halfway and the rest when the project is finished).  I cannot see a way to do this.  If I add new milestones it just makes the project cost a lot more.  What can I do?

Hi Allen,

You have the option to pay the freelancer a partial payment. Any remaining funds can be used to fund the next milestone, or you can request an escrow refund for the remaining amount. To send a partial payment, please follow the steps shared here.
