Can anybody help me? The freelancer I'm working with and I, renegotiated the contract to half the rate whilst working on the project together. I now don't want to release the funds to him as it still says I have double the amount in escrow. Can't seem to find a viable solution to contact anybody regarding this - surely it should just be the click of a button?
Thanks in advance,
Josh

Simply click on Pay and then edit the amount to the renegotiated amount before approving. This releases whatever you put to the freelancer and keeps the rest in Escrow.
Then end the contract, asking for the remaining Escrow funds to be returned to you (there is a field while closing the contract.)
The freelancer gets to approve the return of the Escrow funds - done.

Hi Josh,
Please follow the steps Petra shared and let us know if you need further help, in which case we'll communicate directly and guide you through the process. I'd like just to add that you should let the freelancer know they will be receiving a refund request for the partial amount, which they will need to approve and leave feedback for you, to avoid any confusion.

What I can't understand is why the freelancer should be refunding me? We actually cancelled the initial contract for the original amount, and set up a new one at half the amount - please see attached screenshot. Does this mean that only $125 will be sent and I then need to apply for a refund from UpWork?

Hi Josh,
Yes that is correct.
Once the milestone is completed and if the job is finished you will need to request for a refund for the remaining funds in Escrow, once the freelancer has approved it the funds will be returned to your account. If you have any additional questions let me know, thank you.
