Upwork's VAT or Tax ID for non EU clients

Hi there: the tax authority from my country (Chile) is asking me for background information on all the suppliers to whom I have paid income, including Upwork. In addition to the company name, and address, they ask for a Tax ID number and company number (if they are not the same). So, what is the Upwork Global Inc's tax number?

Hi Roberto,

Value Added Tax, or VAT, is a consumption tax assessed on Upwork’s supply of digital services.

Upwork charges VAT to freelancers and agencies in certain countries unless specific exemption requirements are met. Upwork is required to collect this tax and pay it to the appropriate government agency.

It would be best to consult your tax advisor with questions that relate to your specific situation so you can be guided accordingly.
