Validate the milestones of the project before putting a big amount in deposit

Hi !

I have a specific problem.

I want to hire a freelancer for a project which starts in 2 weeks.

And I will have the fund for the milestone in 1 week.

But I need to be sure, now, if the freelancer will be ok to the mission.

So I created a Milestone call: "Milestone validation" With a 5$ amount.

Is there any other way to just validate the milestone of the project without sending a big amount?

There's nothing to stop you from funding a milestone for $5, but the purpose is not to "validate" it, it's to put the money into an escrow account so that the freelancer can be sure of being paid. Only extremely foolish freelancers would be willing to begin any work without a fully funded milestone, but if the project starts in two weeks and you'll have the money in one week, then you don't have a problem. 

Or are you confusing "validation" with verification of your credit card?
