Where are files being downloaded to?

when I'm trying to preview a file on the Mobile app, it defaultly downloads it (even when I had sent it), but then I can't find it in the downloads folder in my storage? Is this really downloading it onto my phone? I'm a bit worried about the storage it might clog, as I can't find where it is downloading to and therefore can't delete it.

I use an app from Play Store called X-plore that shows me various file types, including downloads in a folder called Download.

You can search Play Store for "file manager" or "file explorer" for similar apps.

 I appreciate the suggestion, I downloaded the app, but I still can't see the items in the download folders through it  (Which are "downloading" when opening them on UpWork)
