Hi, I am a nurse writer with experience. I have a profile, and all is well. My husband and I write a blog, and he has some experience with freelance work on other platforms.
He applied with a profile dedicated to being a blog and article writer, but he also has done copywriting, blog publishing, etc.
What fields aren't saturated? His profile was declined upon application.
Thanks,
Caitlin

Kazakh to Lithuanian poetry translation. Other than that, everything is full. What doesn't work at all is being a generalist. Blog writer? There are truckloads of those. Some can't even spell their name right. And they work for less than a penny per word. So this is not a field your husband wants to compete in.

Thank you! I will have him go back to his work and niche down, providing more portfolio work, and more information. I was accepted rather quickly, so this was new for me.
I figured the hardest part is getting that first job!
I suppose it doesn't help that it's break from university, either.
Thanks,
Caitlin

Caitlin, does your husband have any specialised or niche skills? While general blog writing is definitely oversaturated, if he has any special skills (like you do with your nursing) he may be able to leverage those.

Honestly, I'm not sure there are any. I have done some analysis on various fields, and the most favorable ratio I've found is about ten freelancers for every available job. In many areas, that number is in the hundreds, or even more than 1,000.

What happened to half this thread? There were some extremely helpful comments - Steve's in particular - that seem to half gone poof. There was absolutely no reason / no ToS breaches to have warranted moderators censure.

Thanks, Goran ... have a look at comments posted by Scott B for help. Unless I have the wrong thread... 😞 If so, I apologize.
UPDATE: I had the wrong thread - this is the one I erroneously thought had been edited
