Hey everyone,
Let’s chat about how freelancers can command more respect in our online work setting
Whether you’re pitching to clients or collaborating with peers,
Presenting yourself confidently can make a big difference.
Here are a few tips to help you shine:
- Visual: This is all about your body language. When you’re on video calls or meetings, use assertive body language—sit up straight, maintain eye contact, and avoid slouching or fidgeting. Your posture should reflect confidence and professionalism.
- Vocal: How you sound during conversations matters. Keep your points clear and concise. Ending your sentences with a lower pitch can help convey confidence. Avoid a high or hesitant tone that might suggest uncertainty.
- Wording: Focus on what you say. Be direct and avoid repeating yourself or going off-topic. Use clear, declarative statements to make your message impactful and to the point.
Next time, know when to be assertive and when to adapt your approach to maintain professionalism.
Talk to you later!
Bye!

Ah ... this is where we differ. Business writer Malcomb Gladwell said it takes "10,000 hours of intense practice" to be an expert at something. Play soccer for 10,000 hours, you can assume you have improved all that you can as a soccer player and can call yourself an expert. Work intensely for 10,000 hours as an accountant, you can say you have reached the level of an expert accountant.
I don't think freelancers should command respect. I think they should earn it.
