Nice article. What could be more Hawaiian than spam loco moco? But a raspberry to the self righteous comment accusing the writer of callousness.

You can buy spam (that spam) in one of my local supermarkets. It is quite expensive - a luxury you might say!

She does make it sound like there was absolutely nothing to eat there before the tinned food arrived. I presume the islands must have supported life before SPAM. Or is that the price you pay to live in Paradise? (I was secretly hoping there wasn't a catch).

John will know this but there is an annual Spam Jam Festival on Oahu. 17 years and going strong. Yes, I'm getting older - a friend's daughter is now one of the primary movers behind the festival.
Tons of local entertainment + some mainland acts; major sponsors --- all lined up to extol the ??? of spam. (something which I find revolting)
