How Tables turned for me

Hello to all the stuggling freelancers there!
It took me 6 months to land my 1st job and now i am getting these every now and then. I was struggling to get  1-2 views on my profile in the week to now 20+ and continuing. I took many courses and stuff and was very disappointed. I realized that you can't follow a written template, you have to write each proposal so that client know's that you are valuing his job. Certification played an impactful role in my profile as i usally recives invites that creates more chances for me getting the job. Try to add each of your service(even smaller) seprately that add's a plus point in client's mind about your work

Try to deliver a best value to client for his payment so that he comes back to you everytime. Meet client's expectation as you are the only one who knows about his work. Be paitent and realize what your client is looking for when writing proposal. If you are following the proposal writing skills of your friend who is not even from your domain then Stop!

Use Consultations for the top of your sales funnel to increase your revenues.

Alas, William is still writing as if he were talking with a mouth full of crackers. Some of the words are clear, but he forgets to add context almost every time.

 

I know what the word Consultations means, but I have no clue what he is referring to. I can vaguely imagine what a sales funnel is ... probably related to a sales process invented by Mumbles McJargon.  I know what revenues mean, so I'm intrigued ... sort of like listening to a dolphin squeak for half hour and suddenly come out with the words, "or it's your funeral." You know ... you wish you'd been paying attention all along, but it's too late ... still, it's William ... so you give him a break. He's from Iota, Texas, don't you know.

Upwork has Consultations, Projects, and Project Catalogs that clients can purchase services; my profile can be viewed to see all three points.

 

A sales funnel is the beginning of the sales process to capture a lead or obtain a sale.

 

Basically point a prospect to a robust Consultation page which is connected to an Upwork calendar for scheduling and get paid for either 30 or 60 minutes of your time.

 

Step 1 - Consultation for a business strategy

Step 2 - Project for implemenation

Step 3 - Hire a viritual assistant (VA) if need to maintain

 

The above is the most effective sales funnel or process for increasing sales on Upwork provided the skills are in-demand.

That doesnt play a role. You have young account so they promote you so you stay here. You will have more views like this for some time and then less and less. They push wind into wings of newcomers. That's how you stay and expect it will repeat itself. It's like dead beat relationship.

Besides stuff like upskilling, adding consultations, etc., another thing that works surprisingly well is disregarding "the rules" with regard to what to apply and not apply to.

 

Many say if there are more than 15-20 applicants, don't apply for the job. Well, my most stable and best client is a company whose job ad had 50+ applicants when I applied.

 

Many say don't work with totally new clients, they can be a minefield. My most lucrative client, another one, created their account on the day they invited me and I was their first hire on the platform.

 

Many say that you need to carefully craft each proposal tailoring to each job. Some of the best contracts I had was when I responded to an invite or even submitted a (not an invite-based) proposal as a lazy one liner, even when I had a relatively new account.

 

Disregarding rules like those works, and not only on Upwork but in many areas of life. YMMV.

Excited to read your tables-turning story. Truly, writing proposals right "from the heart" hits. I got my first job writing the proposal from my heart.
