Man those Upwork competitors are really trying to play on this latest rate hike

Got an "invite" to a job from a popular Upwork competitor whose name rhymes with pooyoo.

I signed up for them probably in the 1990s I dunno it's been that long. They went offline and came back but I never went back there. I haven't signed into that site in at least 10 years. I have considered building a profile there as a second source of income but god I would hate every minute of it.

But I had to laugh at their marketing campaign cuz I'm sure lots of people will fall for it. Clever.

Lmbo @ "pooyoo"

tryin so hard to think of a good word that won't get edited

it's sooo hard with my potty mouth. ๐Ÿ˜„

I think the competitor's website you are referencing has tried to set up a good system, and it seems to have a more U.S.-based workforce than some other sites (including Upwork). It isn't a bad site or a scammy site or anything.

But for me, the emphasis on fixed-price contracts rather than hourly work, is a real problem, especially as the fixed-price contract rates seem middling.

Upwork should have a corporate goal to transform Jennifer's "colorful vocabulary" so that she speaks like the the "missionary doll" Sarah Brown in the musical "Guys and Dolls."

How to tell Rene in case he doesn't have 45 PMs.

I went to the Urug store today. Urug was cool. Urug had many many deals.

I just snort/laughed while sipping coffee and nearly offed myself by choking on account of how this tickled me. You almost killed me, Jennifer. I hope you're Yppah.

I received 2 PMs actually, and now I know ๐Ÿ™‚

I have an account there. They have translation jobs. One in winter and another one in spring.

After a dozen people posted in the various rate hike threads that they were "Taking their business to pooyoo" (lol) I went and checked them out too, from a client point of view. Looking for translators, nearly every example that appeared in my search results could translate multiple (unrelated) languages, e.g. "Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese" from a guy with a very, shall we say "white" name), or my favorite "Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Quechua" from someone in Peru. Now, that person has apparently earned quite a lot of money on pooyoo but I'm extremely sceptical of their fluency in all those languages...

If pooyoo is who I think it is I signed up with them around the same time as Elance and ODesk. I've made a little money there but nothing compared to what I was able to make on Elance and now hopefully Upwork.

I think that person might have great Google Translate skills.

Or great entrepreneurial, managerial and taking advantage of other freelancers skills.

Call me a guru (cos I know things)....but that guy sounds like a farmer...or he has a vast, disconnected, multicultural family.

I ran over to pooyuu when UpWork sent trick arsed email about the fee reduction. After about an hour of perusal i remembered why I never go over there
