She was truly the queen of soul, and will be missed.

I cranked her music up pretty loud tonight while making dinner. I happen to be in Paris and the neighbors across the courtyard yelled over to turn it up when Respect came on. You could hear people singing along from various apartments in the facing buildings and it was a rather magical moment. Several of us leaned out the windows and waved and shared a smile afterward. In a city where it's not uncommon to never say more than bonjour/bonsoir to your neighbors in a 10 year span that was quite special. The queen still has her power.

Melissa, I'm betting that would make the Queen of Soul happily burst into song.  Heart

Me, too. What really got me was that a little later Knew You Were Waiting For Me came on - her duet with George Michael (which is a fantastic karaoke duet song, btw). Realizing that they're both gone was so sad. Also, they both died at times when I've been in France. 😕
