Procrastination on Mondays can be tough, but I've found a few strategies that help me push through. First, I start by setting small, manageable goals for the day—something as simple as tackling a quick task to build momentum. I also try to plan something enjoyable for Monday, like a good breakfast or a coffee break, to give me something to look forward to. Lastly, I remind myself of the bigger picture and how getting started early sets the tone for the rest of the week. What about you—how do you handle it?

This is the first interesting (and salient) topic in the Coffee Break forum that I have seen in ... maybe years.

When I started doing freelance work, my computer was in my bedroom, which was pretty small. Needless to say, it was very easy to roll out of bed and go to work in my pajamas.

I made sure I never did that. I put on a button-down shirt, pressed pants and business-like shoes.

I had to convince myself I was actually working at a job. If I just sat down at my desk wearing a T-shirt, shorts and sneakers, I would have quit working in 30 minutes. Instead, I dressed like I had a job downtown -- it helped convince me to stay at my desk.

I totally get where you're coming from! It's amazing how something as simple as dressing the part can make such a big difference in productivity and mindset. I’ve found that creating a distinct separation between “work mode” and “home mode” helps maintain focus and professionalism, even when working from home. It’s impressive how your approach to dressing up for work helped you stay committed and engaged. Thanks for sharing this perspective—it’s definitely something worth considering for anyone working remotely!

To stay motivated and overcome procrastination, focus on finding your personal "why" behind your tasks. Understanding the deeper purpose or benefit of what you're working on can provide a powerful boost to your motivation.

Those are great strategies for overcoming Monday procrastination! I find that starting with a clear plan for the week helps me get a head start. I also try to schedule some time for a quick workout or a walk in the morning to boost my energy and focus. Sometimes, just breaking tasks into smaller chunks and setting a timer for short bursts of work can make a big difference.
