We got recognized as being the Education and Learning Community of the year. Huge thanks to all of you for making this possible.
Trust me, we know it's awkward timing with the other announcement. I didn't know if we should post this, but it's really great recognition for not only our team internally, but for everyone that contributes to the Community and Academy over the past year. It's all of you that helped make this possible.

Great reason to close it! Are you kidding or is someone seriously promoting such ideas? Destroy everything that works and replace it with something bad. 😸

Lily Tomlin: No matter how cynical you are, it's never enough.

Congratulations Stan, all teams past and present, and community contributors! Recognition is important, you are right to share the news.
I'll miss this community a lot. Nothing will match the in house community support, open discussions, insights, and human communication we got here. Such a shame it's ending, its been great while it lasted.
It's a bitter sweet thing but congratulations is deserved and thanks again to all teams and mods.

It’s disappointing. We’re all connecting here as freelancers and clients, and you’re receiving this award because of the community’s support. However, the timing of the announcement feels unfortunate. If this had been shared before the news of the community’s permanent ban, we’d all feel proud to have contributed to your success.

Upwork should have kept this award for itself.
It is a bad joke. Like a toast at a funeral.

My actual response when they told us we won (which was the day after we let them know we were closing down)

I've just seen your post on Khoros Stan. I also know a platform (UK) that closed it's forum. It's one way of supressing freedom of speech. However, that forum sort of limped back and is still there - if a little hogtied.

The important part - They made a donation on the behalf of the Upwork Community to a global cat charity we chose. It was $2500, so we were all pumped about it.
