Check it out.

He may have been among the 21% of staff given the pink slip.

Weird times.

I thought about that. It's more likely Upwork decided that conversation was forbidden. After all, he was genuinely helping us to understand the way the forum worked.

Stan seems to have ventured into dangerous waters.

How was Upwork so quiet about it?

@Ravindra,

He is still Community Manager and last visited on Friday, unlike Pradeep and Ronna who are retired. Ivygail.and Joanne are now Staff while Nikola is moderator. But they are all keeping a low profile for some reason. Shocked and traumatised, perhaps?

I can't post this, tried five times, but the moderators are now in top solutions and upvotes. It won't be long before we disappear. They have "AI" after all, that they have been training on the post's here. Not sure if I can't post or if it's because of the stuff going on in the background. Is that a funeral dirge I hear?

The forum tech is broken. I have to load my posts multiple times to post and again for edits.

I have an option in my profile setting to say I don't give permission for my data to be used to train on, but I'm in EU. Do you have the option Jeanne?

I think the idea of keeping a low profile is directed. Meaning, Upwork has decided that community managers and moderators engaging with community members (us) is no longer necessary. Upwork appears to be distancing itself from any live support--by voice, email, or forums.

The recent terminations and disappearing forum posts/threads and links shows just how little Upwork cares about supporting its users. We already knew this, but to see it in action is unfortunate.

I agree with Jeanne and others--Stan provided detailed answers to several questions, offering insight into how the forum application operates, highlighting areas that can and cannot be improved, and sharing ideas the community support team had for potential changes.

It's pretty sad. The questions from the community where gettitng harder to anwser.

He apparently committed the worst sin on Upwork, he answered questions. How dare he!

And we were discussing such naturally secret topics such as, oh we should have known better, fonts! It began because we couldn't see the posts, due to some changes, etc. Stan was the only person who ever bothered to explain anything about the forum, and we weren't discussing taboo subjects.

Stan, wherever you are, thank you for answering our questions.

Yes, but there were more questions than there were answers.

Labels are not sub-forums.

I'm not sure what you mean. He was restricted from posting, and instead of closing the thread, they removed it. There were questions left unanswered. I'm certain there were areas that could not be addressed, but why not handle his thread, as Upwork would as a freelancer or client?

I don't understand the labels comment. Can you explain?

Yes, Stan did the unthinkable. He listened and explained his position on many topics of interest to freelancers.

There was bound to be gagging of some sort.

I would just like to state for the record, even though Val reported to me for years, she banned me from talking on the forums after the initial incident where you all scared Fran so badly the week he started, we just gave up on every allowing anyone but Val speak for the Community  😂

Geez!

Well, thank you for being so open and helpful with the questions we had.

I didn't realize fonts and names being in the right place was so darned terrifying. The fear comes from you being the only person to ever directly talk to us lowly little freelancers. Why do so many think knowledge is dangerous? If we understand why things are happening, and are given some context, not nearly as many people will be confused and upset.

I didn't think you were fired, I thought you had been silenced. I'm glad the gag was temporary.

I edited my comment in an attempt to not get you banned, again. Thanks for letting us know you are here.

Full disclosure which I realize I didn't say before - I archived the AMA solely so it didn't become stale a week or two ago, figured it was more a moment in time thing, and didn't want folks to keep it popping up months later.  My plan was to do an AMA every month or so.

Aha.

Stuff we frelancers did not know.

Is Vladimir still around?
