Check it out.

You are kidding me, now they changed the name of the post? It was, Why did Upwork get rid of Stan's post, and now they are removing my words, and replacing them with something else? This is complete male bovine excrement.

They renamed this post?
Some words do slip through the filters.

No, this was intentional. This was the Why did Upwork remove Stan's post? Look at the responses. Then I posted, Moderators are now in Top Solutions and Upvotes?
Upwork removed the original title of this post. Then they moved the title from another post in the freelancer forum, and replaced it. Nothing “slipped.” My words were removed and another set of words from another post were put in its place.
Disgusting. It was done to bury the original thread and topic.
If Upwork has hidden rules about what you can post, and that they have the right to manipulate the freelancer's words, they need to tell us now.

I was surprised and shocked. I wondered why my replies had been merged with another post.
Now, I know. This is akin to the Communist Party censorship.

I'm not sure what is going on here, it shows you changed the title 3 times?
Oct 31, 2024 03:00:55 PM by Jeanne H
I don't have any idea. I don't think I changed it, or if I did, it was a mistake. I'm certain I didn't screw up the same way three times.

Slipped: I was referring to "male bovine excrement."

The intentional manipulation of both the forum and the platform are not going to stop. Stan's thread has been purposely removed, because...he was answering questions on how the forum worked. Shame! The freelancers must be kept in the dark! Upwork can't let them know what they are really doing, or even the new ones would leave without spending any connects. The "AI" slop Upwork uses will be used, and you are seeing the result. A 36% staff reduction in two years, 21% recently, is horrible business, unless you are extremely staff heavy, which Upwork was not. The multiple levels of “managers” are not being fired, it is the people who do the work, like in Support. Now the moderators are upvoted and in the top solutions? Such extreme manipulation says it all. It isn't just the forum, or just the jobs feed, it is the entire platform. Everyone should look around and see the incredible impact on freelancers and clients. Upwork is just getting started. Got to show a profit even if they fire 80% of their staff and have managers and "AI."

Yes, and in addition to removing links to the Support forum, they also removed links to the Get Profile Feedback forum, and prevented users from posting new messages. It's in read-only mode now, but there are no links to it, so no one will know it's there.
The Support forum--as expected--has been completely shut down.

These changes are in no way a benefit to anyone but Upwork. These acts will increase and grow worse. It's horrible they removed the ability to give freelancers honest, helpful, and legitimate feedback and advice.
Oct 28, 2024 12:03:35 PM by Rekha S
The new freelancers forum is also read-only.
I guess they don't want to answer questions or want us to do their job.
Oct 28, 2024 12:32:08 PM by Clark S
Yes, and they removed all links to the New Freelancers forum, so no one will even know it's there for read-only.

Could all these changes have been done without any planning?
How long before had Upwork decided to go through with the changes (including the firing)?
Oct 28, 2024 05:17:18 PM by Sein M
I think at higher levels they must of known and planned. All the AI hype and promotion was leading to this.

Upwork, at this point, you might as well close the Forum. Seriously, why don't you just call it an end?
At least people will stop feeling insulted by censorship, bad management and thoughtless decisions. Oh, and those little Halloween icons are totally inappropriate, considering the current situation. Do you really think there is anything to laugh about?
The last changes are an insult to the community - BEYOND WORDS.

As many of you have seen the news, we've recently gone through some organizational changes that have impacted parts of Community and Academy. We'll have more to share in a few weeks, contrary to the conspiracy theories, I have not been locked away on a secret moon base prevented from speaking.
Oct 29, 2024 09:03:09 AM by Jeanne H
Organizational aspects are one thing. Firing 21% of the people could be good or bad, depending on who they fired. Deliberately changing posts, etc. is not acceptable. I realize you can't respond to some things. However, the crap going on that concerns me, and shows there is no point in trying to help anyone, when Upwork, or someone, changes the posts to suit their agenda.
Oct 29, 2024 09:46:49 AM by Stan G
Noted elsewhere, but are you sure you didn't change it? As the log shows you changed it?
Oct 31, 2024 11:22:43 AM Edited Oct 31, 2024 11:30:33 AM by Jeanne H
How could I have changed it? I didn't know you could change topics, because I have tried in the past with mo success.
OK, well, I will go look. If I somehow changed it, then I should be able to change it back. Thanks!
Edited: I can change the titles. That's interesting. If I somehow changed it, then my bad. I learned something new. Thanks!

Can you tell us if freelancers will be able to start new topics again? Or are the forums scheduled to be closed to new topics?
Nov 1, 2024 06:28:36 AM by Stan G
The 4 primary forums are still all open to create new topics and reply.
Nov 1, 2024 07:01:28 AM by Sophie A
Hi Stan,
Would it be possible to add a Search field beside all New Topic buttons, because New Topic seems the only option to get some info on the forum. People don't look for the magnifying glass. Hitting the New Topic button is too easy. Thanks for considering!
