So, it turns out there's a draft functionality here on the forum on your profile page and it seems to be saving all the messages you typed but didn't sent out. 
The earliest I found is this one:

Yes.

I occasionally delete some of them. I hope Upwork purges these at some point; I can imagine those drafts are occupying quite a few table rows in the database.
