Earlier this year, we announced Upwork Academy where we’ll provide tools for success to help you build and grow your business. Today we’re featuring Hailey K. who is the Customer Training & Education Specialist on the Upwork Academy team. Hailey has been working with Upwork for one year and has played an instrumental role in the development of Upwork Academy.
Hailey shared three main buckets that encompass the work she does in her role:
- Organize & create on-demand content for Upwork Academy (courses, learning paths, videos, etc.)
- Work with cross-functional partners to promote and integrate Upwork Academy into the Upwork user experience
- Collect Academy user experience feedback and determine opportunities for improvements and expansion.
How did you come to join Upwork?
Hailey K.: “I was actually working as a corporate trainer in the automotive industry when I stumbled upon the opportunity at Upwork. Although I hadn't used the platform as a freelancer before, I spent a lot of time throughout college and the first years of my career doing graphic design projects for my friends & family and I knew about Upwork. When I discovered the position, it seemed like the perfect fit that combined my skills as a trainer as well as my passion for doing freelance work on the side.”
What’s your favorite part of your role?
HK: “Reading people's feedback and knowing that Upwork Academy has helped a lot of people gain knowledge & confidence that will help them be successful on Upwork.”
What’s your favorite part of working with Upwork?
HK: “I love that the company prioritizes people. Whether it's the people that work for the company or the people that use the platform, the company always considers how their decisions will affect people first.”
What’s your favorite thing to do in your free time?
HK: “Currently all my free time is going toward wedding planning as I am getting married this September. But when I am not caught up in the nuptial to-do lists, I enjoy walking, hiking, going to coffee shops, crafting, trying new restaurants, keeping in touch with friends and visiting new cities and towns.”
