Do you work in a niche?

Some freelancers have found success on Upwork by working in a specific niche that is a subset of their primary work category. For example, a marketer might focus on marketing for small businesses rather than accepting any type of marketing work. I’m interested in exploring this in a blog post.

How do you approach your category? Do you work in a niche?

Thanks,
Mike J.

I am into Software Development and I primarily worked in SharePoint,  but as Microsoft Tools got more sophisticated,  I made sure that I add more relevant skills to my profile (Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Power Automate, Power-BI) to keep up with the demand.
I ensure to attend every chance of gaining more knowledge through Microsoft training and other platforms.  So far this helped me in getting great work done on Upwork and helping client with any additional areas that they may need help.

I am Sharzil zofi.
Currently I am working as a social media marketer. By working in a specific niche, I am able to give maximum focus on the work that is increasing my work skills day by day. Also with social media marketing I am gaining skills in other areas.

Hi, Mike J,

It is a good awareness. I am working on 2 niches, one Data entry, and the next Lead generation because I have more than 12 years of experience in the IT platform as a professional and always give my maximum effort in my work.

I am always eager to learn new things because I want to develop my skills with updated methods and walk onward.

I am looking for your nice advice.

Have a nice day.

Thanks

That's a great topic. When I took the challenge of working as a fulltime freelancer, My primary focus was on the Office 365 / SharePoint space.  Slowly I upskilled myself to include PowerApps, Power BI Reporting and Dynamics 365 into my skill set (somewhat related technology),  that added more flare to my profile,  I also took the extra step of doing some Microsoft Certifications to showcase my skills.

That one decision to take up Microsoft Training and Certification is helping me a lot in consulting my clients and mapping their requirements to the new toolset and skills i acquired.

Just keep on learning everyday on Upwork,  that's the way to stay current in the market and demands.
