How can an experienced professional, who is new to Upwork, effectively attract and win clients on the platform? I am seeking advice, want a concise description or summary of the steps they should take to secure clients, considering their previous experience.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Hey Faisal! It is a good question and common for members, new and experienced, here on Upwork.
There are many ways to reach your goal, whatever your goal may be here on this platform, even if you start with little to no experience. Here are some things you might take into your consideration:
First things first: This game has no quick fix or silver bullet. Sad but true. You must put your back into it- at least at the beginning. It requires consistent work for several months to build a solid profile and a steady customer flow. And even the best-profiled freelancers have dry periods too.
Import testimonials from previous projects outside Upwork with a thoroughly described problem statement and your solution. That's usually a good start.
Make sure your profile picture looks inviting. Hint: Don't be afraid to put a smile on it. After all, it is the first impression of you that your clients get. 😉
Try to raise your rate- just by 20%. Don't be cheap. The right clients don't care much about the price, and there will always be someone more competitive on price than you. Why not differentiate and beat them in their own game?
Do you know SEO? Great. Upwork is algorithm and SEO based too. Why not use it to your advantage in your profile description?
Work on your profile text. Over 50% of Upwork's freelancers miss this part because they don't value the importance of it. The same thing as 1000 other freelancers and expecting to get paid well. Of cause. You are not among that 50% 😉
Learn from your mistakes. Practice your proposals and cover letters. Have patience and be CONSISTENT.
Don't get frustrated over you only get those Indian-fake scam invites. If you continue to develop and learn, I promise you: Where you are going, you don't need an invitation. You are the invitation.

That's a wonderful insight. As a challenger, I will invest in persistence and work hard, just like your story.
