Steering newcomers toward setting rates without any verification that they are competent to provide services seems a bit cart-before-the-horse-ish.

Surely it will be as effective as telling them that the first thing is to go through the forum to introduce themselves.

Anything but screening newbies.

I'm curious as to why "$527/hour" is shown in the example. Does ANYONE on Upwork make $527/hour? Why use such a random number, instead of something like $20-30 instead? I'm willing to bet that a lot of newbies will see this and think that they're supposed to charge $527/hour.hour.jpg
