0% fee when you bring your own client

Hello,

In May 2017 I received a message from Upwork with a special promotion with 0% fee when I bring my own client to Upwork (I am a Top rated freelancer) and I received an invitation linked to send it to my client for register and activate this 0% fee. A few days ago, I send it to my client and he registered and started a Upwork contract and now, when the contracted is just ended I realized that I have standard 20% fee. What to do in this situation? It's obvious that I was not intended to bring my client to pay 20% to Upwork.

Once a client signs up trough your unique link they can proceed and set up a contract. After a couple of days your fee will be automatically adjust to 0%. Thank you.

Its been 10 days now and nobody has contacted me or sent me any link. My client couldnt wait further for his project so he has already hired me on upwork. 

Please tell me how can I proceed further as of now on his contract i have to pay 20% upeork's fees but he is my client and came to hire me on upwork on my request only. He asked me everything how to create a profile and how to hire me and then hired me. 

He is already paying 2.75% upwork fees on hiring me on upwork but i want to avail the 0% fees offer. 

Please tell how to proceed now!

Personally I do not see the benefit.

Basically upwork are trying to recruit affiliates and pay nothing.

I can get zero upwork fees with my offline clients, without bringing them here.

If you had said, "bring your offline clients to Upwork and you will receive 50% of the fees your clients pay for life when they hire other freelancers" I might have considered it.

There's no way I bring my hard fought, offline clients onto upwork when there is no incentive for me to do so.

Sorry, but I'll pass on this offer, and only work with my Upwork clients through Upwork.

Hello Alan,

I have invited 4 of my non-upwork clients to join and hire me for a test project. The only benefit that I see is the pooling of funds. Those clients had to pay heavy wire-transfer fees to send small payments to me. Going forward, their small payments will get combined with my upwork.com earnings without either of us having to pay any commission to upwork.com (excet for paypal fees or credit card fees).

I guess upwork.com sees a benefit in getting more people onboard in terms of those people using this platform to hire other freelancers.

There may be a down-side to all this but I cannot see it right away.
