0% job success

"0% job success" looks SO bad!

It's one thing when before, clients could have at least seen the 5 (empty) stars but now they just a see a big "0% job success". The stars provided a visual representation and were more relatable than a JSS.

(SN: I saw someone with a 50% JSS and the bar was empty. Why wasn't it half?!?!)

I wonder how most people interpret job success score? What's the first thing that comes to mind? (Social experiment).

Oh the great joy of being a new freelancer! Oh the joy of no job success score!

Just when I was happy to have finally worked 1 hour and to have finally received a 5-star feedback, I have to contend with the ominous JSS.

It can be such a bummer when you're new and a job says "at least 1 hour worked" or "atleast 3.5 feedback". When you finally get there, it feels great! Lol.

To other new freelancers, you'll get there too. All part of the natural progression.

Now let me try to get me a JSS..how many more jobs to go? Lol.

I've got one more feedback remaining until I get a JSS. I can't say that I'm particularly excited about that, although I feel like I should be... But right now, I've got a beautiful "Rising Talent" badge, and I know as soon as I get that JSS, they'll take my badge away. Boo.

(On the upside, AS FAR AS I'M AWARE, my JSS should be at 100%. However, I'm not really holding my breath, because way too many people have mentioned their dislike of it and the unfairness of the whole system. But I've got solid 5 stars, and most of my clients have re-hired me for further work. So, we'll see.)

Yea. I kinda sorta fear that too but on the other hand, 100% JSS looks really good.

I think that if you have 100% JSS, you automatically become Top-rated. So you'll have another blue badge too! Haha.

That sounds good - although I seem to remember reading somewhere that you must have at least 100(0) hours to be "top rated". Since most of my contracts are fixed-price, I'm far from that number, whichever it is.

I hope I'm wrong, though. Swapping one badge for the other would be excellent. ๐Ÿ™‚

I would shrink into my chair whenever I would see glowing green stars on my competitors' bids. Then I got 5 greens myself and away went the intimidation. A couple of days ago, I tried to check my competitors' ratings and up came a bar with a percentage. When I hovered over my bid, alas, it said 0% Job Success.

I personally would tolerate five uninspiring gray stars on a freelancer, but an empty bar with 0% to reinforce the point- that's off-putting. I used to get a job for every 4 bids and all my clients have come back except one. But I can't seem to secure anything since the JSS. Anyway, we'll all get there.

Maliki,

Having 100% job success is only part of what is needed to be top-rated. Have a look here:

https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/articles/211063568 which incidentally, needs to be updated, as you also need to have $1000+ in one year.

This is what I have on my stats page:

"Great news! You are almost top rated!

Requirements for this exclusive program include:

  • 90%+ Job Success
  • $1,000+ 12-month earnings
  • No policy violations
  • 100% complete profile

Job Success updates about every 2 weeks."

Thank you Nichola! @Barbara, check this out. There's other criteria.

When the client right cliks the name of the freelancer. This message appears. In my opnion

1. It is misleading in case of new freelancers, where is the question of  0% Job Success.

2. In the second case even people ae having very good feedback earlier, if the won't work for two years 0% job Success is repeted.

The clients may mis understand  it may lead to ignoring the applications. The solution is show it to serve the intended purpose if the score less than 0 or greter than 0.

Hi Raju,

I believe you are referring to the preview of the freelancer's profile that shows on the job posting. I will share your observations and feedback with the team.

Thank you!

Hi All,

It was a bug that caused some users who don't have Job Success score yet to show as 0% JSS on the job posting page. I was informed that it has been fixed since. Please, let us know if you still see 0% Job Success score in the hover over on the job postings.

Thank you!

I'm new to Upwork. I have signed up about 1 week ago. I have finished 3 jobs successfully , but my job score is showing as 0% in job proposals. How can I fix it? Give me help. Thanks.

Hi Eugeny,

Could you please send me a private message with a screenshot of the page where your Job Success score shows as 0%? Just click on my name near this post to do it.

It should be fixed for all users.
