24 proposals none accepted

Just curious - is something wrong with my profile. Modesty aside - I know I am good with what I do its just that its my first time in Upwork the work I did is with corporate but with 24 proposals no one accepted it.  Its getting frustrating. 😞

ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Lose the first couple of lines.

Wishing people well is a waste of valuable space. They don't need a welcome to your profile page, they don't need to know your name (they know already), and they already know how to contact you if they want to.

Clients only see the first couple of lines unless they expand the view, so use those lines to explain to clients what you do and how you can help them.

Use your regular internet browser's search function to perform this search:
"Not getting responses to my proposals Upwork"

You'll find that this is a common concern raised by new freelancers. Gaining traction on Upwork does not happen quickly for most.

A better picture can do wonders. Other than that, there are millions of freelancers on upwork, and you really must stand out from your competition.

If every job you apply for receive 30 proposals on average (for your field it may be more than that) and all proposals have equal probability to get hired, then you have 97% (approx) probability to not get hired for one job and 0.97  ^ 24 = 0.48 = 48% to not get hired for 24 jobs in a row. Actually, this is much higher, because clients tend to hire more experienced freelancers, so this 97% maybe 99% for a totally new freelancer, which would mean 78% NO HIRE for 24 jobs in a row.

There is nothing wrong with your case. It's just pure maths. Continue to apply, and apply, and apply until you get your first job. This could happen with your 100th proposals and it wouldn't be rare at all.
