$2M Earned on Upwork. I would love to HELP!

Hey Everyone,

I posted this in the newbie group. I can answer newbie questions there,

I can help answer more advanced questions here, I would love to help my fellow freelancers : )

I have been on upwork for 12 years now (previously elance),

I have been on the forums for a couple years but never really participated much,

I figured, what better way than to help others, ask away, some stats below (you can also click to see my profile)

๐Ÿ‘‰ Earned $2 Million+ on Upwork.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Completed 400+ jobs on freelance platforms.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Attained 200+ 5-star reviews.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Worked 40,000+ hours on freelance platforms
๐Ÿ‘‰ Earned a 100% Feedback Rating
๐Ÿ‘‰ Worked with 1,000+ Clients

Thank You - Sam

Hi Sam! How and from whom do I get an invitation to the Upwork Skill Certifications in Design & Creative? Thank you!

They have a place where you can email them to get access, I think for now, its invite only

Hey Hamse,

Your profile looks good in general, I would basically do the following:

1. add a video if you can

2. add more portfolio items as they help show your skill set.

3. add certifications which resonate with your skill set and your niche

4. it would be a good idea to add more portfolio items, you may show up more in search

5. add a list of services in your initial description

6. continue to submit proposals to relevant jobs

7. work hard to build up your reviews / jss. Take on smaller jobs until you get better

8. keep working hard, keep learning and NEVER give up!

Hey Arslan, The key is to do the following:

1. make sure you have a complete profile

2. submit proposals when you are ready and content with your skills and profile

3. focus on smaller jobs initially and eventually, go to bigger jobs.

4. make sure clients are 100% happy and get good reviews / jss

5. continue to work hard and upskill

6. do everything you can to keep learning

Sarika,

I hope all is well on your end. I apologize for the delay,

In general, your profile looks OK and have a nice history on things here:

1. add a video if you can, that will help with things.

2. it might be a good idea to add additional details in to your introduction (list of services, etc - not to many)

3. might be a good idea to add more portfolio items here also, a good idea

4. add built in certifications that Upwork support. if it matches your skill set of course.

Have a look and get started with these for now. Let me knwo when your ready and we can go from there,

Hi Sam. You have a very impressive experience.
Can you look at my profile and help where i can improve?
I am from Kenya Africa and am new here yet to get any assignment

Actually now you do not have a profile created about which you can get some advice. You have to start from scratch.
Start here:

That would be a good start

Hey Makokha,

Your profile is very basic, I would go in and edit each section first.

Thank you. this will be greatly appreciated

Hi Samer, I wish you well. Can you review my profile? I am unable to get enough clients on Upwork to sustain this business. Is there something wrong with my profile? Should I tweak something? Let me know thanks!

Hello Samer,

I am a newbie here, and as soon as clik this community page, I am happy to see this helpful post of yours but it's of last year. Hope you are still on this helping mode for newbies like me?

First, delete your email address from the presentation, it is not allowed. And in case you don't know, you can't communicate outside of Upwork until you have a contract.

Regarding your presentation, it is the typical wall of dense and boring AI text, because it is AI, right?
If I were a customer, when I opened your profile, I would back out and move on to the next one.
I don't know about your specialty, so I can tell you little beyond that you use the first two lines to get the customer's attention and open your profile. Regarding the subsequent wall of text, tell the client what you can do for them, with your words, avoiding the "I" and using the "You" more.

I hope someone else gives you their opinion.
Luck!

What email address, where did you see it? Obviously, I am aware of Upwork's communication policy.

No, my profile overview is not AI generated. I did try Grammarly AI to improve my existing text but it wasn't making much sense so I completely avoided it. But while refining this overview I took some inspiration from the tips Grammarly AI was giving - like what points should be added - that's it!

But I understand it might sound a little robotic or unnatural that would turn clients away.

I will try reducing the text and will make it more direct and client-centric. Thanks for your valuable feedback, Maria!
