Contractors:
Volunteer work is wonderful.
You SHOULD volunteer.
You should volunteer at your church, at your child's school, at the local civic center, art museum, campaign office or wherever else you want to volunteer. Volunteer your services to a website whose activism you believe in. Volunteer to help remodel your grandma's house.
Don't do volunteer work for clients on Upwork. That is not what this site is for.
We are here to earn money by doing work.
We don't earn money when you do the work the client needs for free.
This isn't rocket science.
If you do work for a client, you need to get paid.
If a client needs custom artwork, and you provide it to her for free, then she doesn't need to pay you or anybody else for it. And that kind of thing leads to the whole system breaking down for all of us. Use your heads, people, and don't work for clients for free.
