A drop from 100% to 95% in one single day. HOW?

Exactly, John. Transparency is the main issue here. Noone can play by the rules when they are unknowable - coming from a socialist country, I understand this fairly well. The effect of the populace not knowing the rules has a twofold objective - to make the populace remain obedient and enable the ruler to bend and interpret the rules to their liking whenever they please.

I thought I was being fairly successful myself, with a 100% JS when the thing started to appear on our profiles. I haven't been working much this last month, due to expecting a baby, so everything should have stayed more or less as it was. Just a few day-long projects for returning clients.

Then JS went to 90%

Yesterday I accidentally checked it, and it's sitting pretty at 80%

Meanwhile, I've got a single contract stuck in development hell (but not lost, I talk to the client over Skype occasionally). My star rating is 4.99 or something to that effect, with the last two clients failing to leave a review. Could that be the cause for a 20% drop?

Lack of transparency in the traditional workspace is why I left for the greener pastures of freelancing in the first place. Seems to me, bad business practices inevitably spread like the plague, when big money arrives and consolidation takes place.

In the long term, this will devalue the platform in its entirety, as the "middle class freelancers", much like in the real world, will get culled off and only the 1% and the 99% will remain in the game.

An interesting thought to ponder, especially in lieu of the fact that Internet was supposed to offer new models for business and earning in general.

Question, Does Expired Offer will effect in JS? also does a 12-month earnings will effect in JS too?

my 12-month earnings is almost $31K

few weeks ago - my JS is 96%

then i closed 2 contract 1 is 200$ and the other one is  $11,115.66 contract  both of them is 5 Star then my client rehired me again

Yesterday i closed another contract with 4 star which is only $72

then 3 days ago  my 4 new offer has been expired, and then yesterday i was expecting my JS will came up since i closed $11k contract but when i check my stats, my 96% down to 93%

They need to change the metrics somehow, because I had a drop from 100% to 88%, refunded clients only 2 times in 4 years for some lousy $25 logo job, for a client who didn't know what he wanted.

For me it means I'm kicked out of the top rated program, and DON'T KNOW how to get back into it.

However, upon reading about the "open job" metrics other people mentioned (not as official information, which is disturbing), I've come to realize I HAD a lot of open jobs due to the fact the client went away and forgot all about oDesk or now UpWork..

Open jobs have far more cases where clients do it for their own convenience, and we do it for their satisfaction (don't want to hassle them into opening hundreds of contracts daily....)

BTW. all of my feedback that I've ever gotten is 5.0, so it doesn't make sense..

Hi all

Sorry to read your posts. The matrics are too cruel and dangerous it can make you from hero to zero. The Upwork should have make it less dangerous.its something like a disease less chances of cure.

Hope the things get better after some time.

@ Neven

Remember there is Private Feedback also. And sometimes this is totally contrary to the public feedback left.

Of course there is private feedback, but this isn't about that, this is about having 100% JOB SUCCESS (not just feedback, but job success) since they started with the program, and then it switched to 88% on its own (there were no new jobs, closed contracts etc. in that period, and even if it did take my last job into account, there shouldn't be such a significant drop.

Additionally, I've been contacted that it's a temporary technical issue and they're working on it.

Hi Neven,

The changes in your Job Success score don't only reflect your most recent activity but also reflect your overall performance during last two years. A job from two years ago that counted positively in your Job Success score a week ago may not count after the most recent update.

Hi Valeria,

In addition to UpWork sending a message it's a temporary glitch the team is working on, there's also a section in My Stats that says: "Clients who would recommend you: 96%".

That should be the key factor in determining the score in my case because it says clients which should imply all of them.

So it makes no sense at all for me to have 88% job success (in addition to having 83 jobs with 5.0 star feedback from all who left it).

I hope the metric changes yet again..
